Deck13 Spotlight announced two retro-inspired RPGs this week, Drova II: Torn Lands and Forge of the Fae, and both are headed to PC and consoles in 2027.
Drova II: Torn Lands is the standalone sequel to the indie hit Drova: Forsaken Kin, developed by Just2D. It launches in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG. The Divinites of the Otherworld have been freed, the Dark Fog is gone, and a new world has been revealed: the Torn Lands, split by a ravine and home to two ancient tribes, the Bear Mother and the Great Ram, both of which endured the Fog. Magic has returned, and Drova can join either tribe. Expect an open world, an improved and expanded combat system, two new factions, more decisions that shape the story, and the same philosophy as the first game: no quest markers, no hand-holding, an RPG that takes the player seriously.
Forge of the Fae comes from developer Datadyne and is a turn-based, JRPG-inspired pixel-art game set in a world inspired by 1800s Ireland, where humans and fae are in conflict. You play Fiora, a young inventor investigating a series of mysterious disappearances as an ancient power stirs, and your decisions shape how the story resolves. Combat runs on two systems: ARC Crystals, which offer customizable spells and abilities, and Adrenaline, which adds depth to battles. Environmental puzzles, secrets, and optional discoveries reward exploration with powerful items and hidden lore. It launches in March 2027 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and GOG. No exact day within March and no pricing have been announced yet, but a free demo is already live on Steam.
Same publisher, same year, two very different flavors of retro RPG. Forge of the Fae arrives in March; Drova II follows sometime later in 2027.
