Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Drops November 6: Shoot House Returns, DMZ Goes Underground
Season 1 arrives November 6 at midnight ET with new maps, new modes, new weapons, a new DMZ zone, and full Warzone integration.
Modern Warfare 4 has been out for two weeks, and the campaign goodwill we wrote about on launch day is about to meet its first real test: Season 1 arrives November 6 at midnight ET, and it's a big one — new maps, new modes, new weapons, a new DMZ zone, and full Warzone integration.
Start with multiplayer, because that's where most of the season lives. Three maps headline launch day. Backstab drops you into a war-torn, snow-covered town littered with abandoned tanks and drone ordnance. Canyon trades the cold for exposed desert terrain between towering rock walls, with a river ambush point and a winding cliff path. And Shoot House returns, reimagined — the close-quarters classic relocated to snowy North Korea. Kill Block gets its own Crash configuration, with fixed map sections chosen from popular beta arrangements instead of the usual modular shuffle.
The modes are just as stacked. Grind is back — kill players, grab their dog tags, bank them to score. Drop Zone returns, with teams fighting over a single rotating objective while killstreak packages rain in. Gauntlet 1v1 arrives through the Wager Match Event, where you stake earned trophies on consecutive one-on-one Gunfight matches, winner stays on. If you've been playing the pre-season, you've already had a taste of the Halloween rotation: Infected and Possession, plus Shipment, which landed October 27 as a pre-season bonus.
Then there's the arsenal. The Season 1 Battle Pass brings the Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle and the CSG-35 SMG, with the full-auto JAK 12 Shotgun and the ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon joining later in the season. The pass itself is a 100-tier track with a new catch-up system that guarantees 50+ rewards for buyers — a direct answer to the usual mid-season FOMO complaint.
Mid-season keeps the pace. Ministry, set around a diplomatic summit at an embassy, and Overflow, a factory-and-farmland map, join the rotation, plus additional maps still listed as [CLASSIFIED], and Counter Attack, a mode about detonating bombs at the enemy comm station while defending your own.
DMZ players aren't left out. Season 1 opens X01, a formerly undiscovered weapons facility seized by enemy forces — a maze of tunnels, laboratories, and production lines that demands planning, specialized equipment, and squad coordination. Expect new DMZ Orders inside X01, Threat Briefings against the mode's biggest boss threats, Resupply Runs, and the return of Ghost handing out new orders and challenges.
And Warzone joins the ecosystem properly: two new maps, Hajin and Zodiac, plus the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Activision is holding the full Warzone Season 1 roadmap until November 2, so the finer Warzone details are still to come — but the shape is clear. Less than two weeks after a launch that won the campaign crowd back, Modern Warfare 4 is already playing the live-service long game. November 6 is when we find out whether the multiplayer can hold what the campaign won.
