Planet Zoo 2 Lands October 13 — Birds, Fish, and Wildlife Reserves
Frontier's zoo sim sequel goes day one on PC, Xbox, and PS5 with aviaries, aquariums, and a whole new conservation game.
Mark Tuesday, October 13, 2026: Planet Zoo 2 launches simultaneously on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Frontier Developments calls it the most advanced zoo sim it's ever built, and the headline features back that up.
The two big additions are the ones fans have begged for since 2019: fully flying birds in buildable aviaries, and fully aquatic species in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. No more semi-aquatic workarounds — we're talking sharks, turtles, and full shoals of fish.
Beyond the zoo walls, the sequel adds Wildlife Reserves: customizable, expansive reserves around the globe where you release animals as part of a deeper conservation loop. If the first game's conservation credits got you, this is that system grown up.
The roster keeps growing ahead of launch — Frontier is revealing its final 12 animals through early October, with the red panda, long-tailed parakeet, and Asian small-clawed otter already confirmed for day one. The Deluxe Edition adds six more species: the golden eagle, golden lion tamarin, axolotl, blue & gold fusilier, hammerhead shark, and longfin batfish.
Pricing: $49.99 for the standard edition on Xbox (UK £39.99), with the Deluxe Edition up from there. It's single-player, rated PEGI 7, and supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so one purchase covers Xbox and PC.
